Behold! The book is complete.
We’ve just distributed the digital editions to all backers who pledged for The NES-ential Celebration. The digital edition was included with all physical rewards, so if you’ve completed your survey, you should receive an email very shortly with your download link.
There are one or two very minor tweaks we still need to make. However, we promised we’d get the book into your hands this week, and we wanted to honor that commitment. Once those final tweaks are complete, we’ll update the digital file accordingly. They’re small changes—nothing most people would ever notice.
We’ll also be uploading a single-page version of the book for those of you reading on tablets who prefer not to view spreads.
We’re incredibly proud of this book. It required a huge amount of work and resources, along with contributions from some of the best gaming journalists and designers working today. We truly believe we’ve created something special together. We hope our love for the NES shines through on every page and captures some of the magic it inspired in us as kids—and still inspires in us today.
We’re taking one more week to make a couple of final refinements, after which the files will be sent off to the printers. Going to print is stressful because any mistakes are there forever. If you have any feedback in the meantime, feel free to DM us.
A quick note on surveys: there are still around 200 backers who haven’t completed theirs yet. If that’s you, please log into your BackerKit account and check your survey status. We don’t have the capacity to manually check hundreds of surveys individually today. If you’ve confirmed your survey is complete and are still experiencing issues, please reach out and we’ll do our best to help.
We’re so happy to have reached this milestone, and we can’t wait for these big, beautiful golden books to be printed and sitting on your shelves. Thank you so much for the support and for helping us create the tribute the NES truly deserved for its 40th Anniversary.
